Developing great habits in our coaching to optimise players’ improvement. The session will focus on how to enhance players’ understanding of the game and the development of the tools necessary to play the game to the level they want, all within a squad training environment.

Topic: Never waste a warm-up

Suzanne Williams

This presentation will provide an overview of the reasons for including S&C in tennis sessions – which may not be what coaches think it is. It goes on to explain the optimal framework by which to structure your pre-tennis preparation. A mixture of theory and practical, coaches will learn the sport science behind optimal preparation and have a go at the exercises of each phase.

Topic: Matches, Match Flow and Momentum - developing thinking players

Alistair Higham

This interactive session is designed to help coaches teach match-play skills with the aim of producing intelligent, resilient match players. We will take a look at what happens in a match, focussing on how to help players prepare for matches and giving players the tools to navigate through matches, with the aim of winning more often.  We will cover the impact of the score, Match Flow, Momentum and the link between momentum and performance.
